Kim Schoessow

Welcome!

I am a doctoral student in the Program in Occupational Therapy at Washington University in St. Louis School of Medicine.  Currently I am completing a predoctoral fellowship at Smith-Kettlewell Eye Research Institute in San Francisco.  I chose occupational therapy because of its holistic and functional approach that examines the impact of a person's occupations and environment on his or her quality of life.  After earning a Bachelor of Health Science degree from the University of Miami, I moved to St. Louis because of Washington University's ability to help me meet my professional goals.

I have a wide range of interests within OT, but am particularly passionate about low vision rehabilitation, including both clinical practice and research.  Through my doctoral project I am researching independent living for older adults with low vision due to glaucoma.  Through classes, fieldwork, and research projects I hope to learn more about the various areas of OT and the impact it can have on our society.  Please explore the rest of my site to better understand my experiences in occupational therapy!
